My work is heavily involved with texture and the sensory nature of my materials. I need to feel my materials as much as I need to see them. When making paper, the slosh of the water and the feel of the pulp skipping over my hands as I hog the vat inform the nature of my finished pieces. As in my sculpture, the paper bends and flows from the armature ending in wispy fragments.
My two-dimensional works explore the nature of paper, as well. Mark-making and edges are explored using different kinds of paper and multiple layers. I challenge myself to use all of the academic principles that I learned as a painter executed using paper.
